Echocardiogram (echo) is an ultrasound test which uses sound waves to produce live images of the heart. Its main application is to assist in the diagnosis and management of heart disease.
STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAM
Stress echocardiogram (stress echo) is an imaging test that uses a combination of exercise and ultrasound to determine how well the heart functions under stress. This test is beneficial in the screening and diagnosis of significant coronary artery disease (narrowing in the coronary arteries).
EXERCISE STRESS ECG
A stress ECG is an exercise test which is used to assess how well the heart responds to physical activity. This test has less specificity and predictive value then the stress echo but is still applicable in the screening of ischaemic heart disease (narrowing in the coronary arteries) as well as potential arrhythmias which could be induced with exercise. Doctors may also request this test if needed for licensing or risk assessment following a heart attack/heart surgery.
HOLTER MONITOR
A Holter monitor is a small wearable device which continuously records the electrical activity of your heart. It is useful in the diagnosis of patients who are experiencing irregular heart beats and arrhythmias.
12 LEAD ECG
An ECG is a safe and quick test which shows the electrical activity of the heart. Doctors will request this test to assess a patients rhythm and heart rate.
BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is a way to monitor blood pressure during everyday life. Allows Doctors to identify and diagnose conditions such as high blood pressure and low blood pressure to assess for possible effective treatments.
